This is a fine exam­ple of this form which was very pop­u­lar in France in the nine­teenth cen­tu­ry. Each sec­tion of the band is fea­tured; the form is one long move­ment. Bail­ton was the Chef de Musique au 127e [reg­i­ment] in France. There are sev­er­al march­es and polkas extant, all pub­lished between 1886 and 1892. Two over­tures sur­vive: one called En Exil! and the oth­er called The Prayer of The Druids.
